Serves: 5 (about 1 cup portions)
Ingredients
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 3 3/4 cups water Or 2 cups water + 1 3/4 cup milk
- 3 small sweet apples or 2 cups apple pieces diced small, Could steam for a few mins
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- dash of nutmeg
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar, adjust to taste
- Optional: chopped pecans or chia Seeds just a sprinkling for serving each bowl
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium high heat. Add 1 cup of the apples, the brown sugar, and sprinkle in the spices and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the apples are softened.
- Pour in the water and milk, turn the heat up to high, and bring to a low boil. Add the oats and reduce the heat to medium/medium high. Cook, stirring occasionally for 3-5 more minutes.
